Bio: MICHAEL LONDON AKA DJ SHADOW
DJ. Entrepreneur. Producer. Executive. All of this and more can be used to describe self-proclaimed Army brat Michael London – also known to legions of fans as DJ Shadow. His career began in Germany where he honed his craft as a break-dancer and soon began deejaying at DYA dances and NCO clubs to rave reviews. As an established DJ, he’s known for his ability to play for different genres and create unique remixes and “mashups” on his syndicated mixshows.
After moving back to the states, London launched Southern Network Association Record Pool and Promotions (S.N.A.), a full service record pool servicing the top DJs in Alabama and radio promotions company covering the Southeast region. As the founder and owner of S.N.A., London is credited with having one of the top DJ Record Pools in the country. Never one to rest on his laurels, London saw the need for a greater range of service and expanded S.N.A. to include a successful production company and retail store. S.N.A. Promotions has worked on marketing campaigns for corporations including Kellogg’s, Seagram’s, as well as a number of film and soundtrack releases. London and his team have also worked tirelessly to promote and market a wide range of contemporary artists including Prince, Mary J. Blige, Akon, The Roots, Gucci Mane, The Shop Boyz, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Dr. Dre, Goodie Mob, 2Pac, Kilo, The Pharcyde, Small Tyme Ballers, Dirty Boyz, 8Ball & MJG, Dem Franchize Boyz, Adina Howard, SWV, Black Street, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, K.P. & Envyi, Hilltop Players, So So Def Bass All-Stars, Coolio, Do Or Die, Brand Nubian and many more.
Through S.N.A. Production – a full digital production studio and ad agency - London once again expanded the company’s vision and reach by producing spots and handling promotional efforts for a wide range of clients including The Democratic Party, Alabama Stage Government, Fair Housing, Visa/MasterCard, and various radio stations throughout the Southeast.
Over the years, London has worked with a number of radio stations throughout the southeast region. From GM/Operational Manager, Program Director, and Music Director to mixshow jock, morning show co-host and evening drive jock, he’s done it all with his own unique style. He also hosted and produced the syndicated radio mixshows “S.N.A. Party Remix” and “The 7 O‘Clock Mixdown” for more than 10 years.
In 2007, Michael launched London2London Media, a multi-media/marketing consulting company that specializes in voice-over production, radio imaging, music production, video production, television syndication and promotional marketing campaigns. One of the first shows distributed by London2London Media was Mix-Tape TV. The Alabama based show has aired in Birmingham, Anniston and Montgomery, AL as well as in Atlanta, GA.
In 2008, he was hired as a Partnership Specialist with the United States Census Bureau. In this position, London developed partnerships with state, local, and tribal governments, community-based organizations, faith-based groups, schools, media outlets, businesses, and other grassroots organizations to promote the 2010 Census. Not only did he have an opportunity to network with these entities, but London was also tapped to be the 2010 Census Road Tour DJ, playing for events such as Super Bowl XLIV, the Mardi Gras Festival in Mobile, AL, the 20210 Census Collegiate Summit in Orlando, FL, and Census Day rallies in Atlanta, Birmingham, and Jacksonville.
In 2010, London2London Media partnered with www.TurntableU.com to provide voice-over production services. His voiceovers can be heard on radio stations and mixtapes all over the world for such clients as XM Satellite Radio, Music Choice, DJ Scream, DJ Icy Ice, DJ Emiliot, DJ Co-Lock, Bumsquadz DJs, HoodHard DJs, Core DJs, Hoodrich DJs, and Slip-N-Slide DJs.
Somehow, in the midst of all this, London still finds time to volunteer in the community, lending his time and talents to various non-profit organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, United Way, Red Cross and YMCA. He’s also volunteered and assisted in event planning with many local organizations including the Rick Rock Christmas Clothing and Food Drive, the Montgomery Housing Area Youth Summit and the Atlanta Pink Party for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Currently, London is the newly hired APD/Music Director for WGBZ in Anniston, AL where you can be sure he’ll bring his signature style and years of expertise to a new audience of radio listeners for years to come.
