Mixshow Coordinator at WEMX Max 94.1 FM Baton Rouge (Cumulus Broadcasting)
For more than 15 years, DJ Marquis has been burning up the airwaves with his blazing brand of mixing. Scoring gigs at major events such as the Bayou Classic's Battle of the Bands and the Essence Music Festival is a testament of the Mix Maestro's prowess. Combined, these events draw millions of patrons to the city of New Orleans.
Born Joe Anthony in Baton Rouge, LA, DJ Marquis began his career as a DJ at sister station, WXOK, transitioned to KQXL and recently segued to WEMX as Mix Show Coordinator, preparing shows for airplay five days a week at the 5 p.m. hour.
DJ Marquis is an active member of the community who has developed the DJ Marquis Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to help fathers build better relationships with their kids. "I believe that the key to healthy development in a child is the active participation of father's in their lives", said Marquis. DJ Marquis - who has an enormous passion for children - is also in the process of launching the DJ Marquis Book Club to encourage elementary-aged kids to read more. In addition to school visits and extensive community involvement, DJ Marquis is also a member of the Lambda Kappa Kappa chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
